Jetico personal firewall made the windows system freeze

며칠 간의 삽질의 원인은 Jetico firewal free version임이 드러났다.

TCP 통신시에 패킷이 firewall을 거치면서 시스템을 먹통이 되게 만드는 듯 하다.

firewall을 Jetico에서 Comodo로 변경하였다.

I was wrong!

My PC froze again, and I googled and found that Jetico personal firewall free version was also problematic.

Only uninstallation is the cure.

Unknown freezing of my PC made me crazy for several days.

My PC froze suddenly and I had to do hard-reset.

The event-log had no suspicious records around freezing moment.

At first, I thought that my hard drives had gone bad and ran defrag and chkdsk.

But, they had no fault.

At second, I ran several times virus, spyware, and trojan scanning and it gave no result.

After that, I suspected drivers and updated them to the latest versions.

But, it didn't cure anything.

The point driving me crazy is that I could not know the exact source of the problem.

Then, I came to know that freezing occurred when I was using firefox or chrome browsers.

I tested three browsers but freezing occurred only for firefox and chrome.

But, I did not have the exact answer

because I could not pinpoint when the freezing occurred.

Today, I found a specific web page which make freezing occur!

The web page had a big size animated gif. (maybe it can be a problem)

So, I could test various options about freezing.

I looked up plugins and addons of firefox and found that a octoshape streaming plugin is suspicious.

(Because it was installed for the live Korean baseball game streaming service of Naver.com and they did not support firefox or chrome browsers. Therefore it should not be related with firefox or chrome browsers)

I disabled it and freezing did not occur anymore!

Then I tested the page again making the plug in available.

But the freezing did not occur! It's weird.

I could not know the reason why, but freezing did not occur until now.

Suspicious theory of the relation between octoshape streaming plugin and firefox(chrome) will be valid for me until I came to run against freezing again.
